The difference between polyethylene rope and polypropylene rope

Recently, a customer inquired about the price of PP danline rope. The customer is a manufacturer that exports fishing nets. Usually, they use polyethylene rope. But polyethylene rope is more smooth and fine and easy to loose after knotting. The advantage of PP danline rope is its fiber structure. The fiber is relatively rough and the knot is not slippery.

Theoretically, the molecular formula of propylene is: CH3CH2CH3, and the molecular formula of ethylene is: CH3CH3.

The structure of polypropylene is as follows:

— (CH2-CH (CH3) -CH2-CH (CH3) -CH2-CH (CH3)) n —-

The structure of polyethylene is as follows:

— (CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2) n —-

It can be seen from the structure that polypropylene has one more branch chain than polyethylene. After the rope is made, due to the role of the branch chain, the polypropylene rope has a stronger tensile force than polyethylene and the knot is not slippery.

Polyethylene rope is more flexible and smooth than polypropylene, and feels softer.

The density of polypropylene is 0.91, and the density of polyethylene is 0.93. So The PE rope is heavier than PP rope.
